Visions & Views from a Visiting Voyeur

Loud mouth insight to the nothing and nowhere. Deep thoughts and questions that have no where else to go...

Today, I took a bit of a wandering around a nearby town. Though I know I live in a historic area for Oklahoma history and perhaps even for America. But to be honest there isn't much of what was left here. This weekend they had the first Loose Caboose Day. I have no idea what that is all about but they had quite a few antique stores open and vendors selling crafts. We have a Caboose that sits on Main St. It is supposed to represent the era gone by and how the town used to be important for the railroad system during the early days and before the Land Run of 1889. I love looking at the old architecture that is still there. There aren't many builds that still look nice but the ones that have been taken care of are beautiful I think. When I was younger and in school we would get the chance to dress up like someone in the late 1800's and do a mock land run.

Hotel Love :) And the street in front of it is made of bricks as well... which is original to the beginning of the town.

It was built and run in the Indian Territory before the Land Run of 1889. It is now an antique store but if you go upstairs it has newspaper clippings from 1870's and it shows the hotel.

I love the pictures. I enjoy very much learning about new towns, going on sunday random drives and trying out new eateries. Sounds like you had fun.

You give me ideas. Love your eye for photography.

Wonderful building!
Over here in the sixties and seventies they tore down a lot of the old buildings, replacing them with cocrete buildings instead. Fortunally for us many protested agins that so we still have some old buildings left. But in a nearby town, Skövde, there´s almost nu house older than fifty years now. Terrible!

I love that railroad carrige too, I don´t knw why but I love most things connected with railroads :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.

Tammy,

I like trying new eateries too. We have a place here called Janet's. They make scrumptios quiches, sandwiches and a bake potato soup that is almost heavenly. I think I have eaten there enough that they know me by name :).

I would love to see where you get to wander.

Woody,

Thank you for the compliment. I love taking pictures and have loved the look of this building for some time. I hope to see some of the ideas you have gotten soon.

Christer,

I love it when you come by. I wish there were more older buildings but I can understand how it can be difficult to keep them safe for people to be in and economical. I am glad this one has pictures of it during that time period.

I am glad you like the picture of the caboose. We actually still have a train station (small one).

Thanks again for stopping by.

Hi there. Thanks for coming by my place for a visit. Long story but suffice, i'm following you again, faithfully. I love your blog so far and what you have done with. I look forward to reading new post. Take care. Tammy

Just check in to see what if there are any new posts...and don't see my last comment. I am having that happen a lot lately. I think..maybe I leave before I hit that last button or ..something. Anway...I wonder where all our old cars have disappeared to...and recently an lovely old building was knocked down right on our mainstreet and a ugly turquoise glass thing went up. This part of town is OLD Riverside and it made me sick. Old buildings are so beautiful! Worth saving. Turquoise glass...all angled!
Anyway...thanks for sharing the pictures. I'm sorry my other comment vanished!

Who is the better cook?
